Businesses Could Save Nearly $1 Trillion In Health Benefits Through Wellness, Disease-Prevention Programs.
The Nashville Business Journal (6/9, Hieb) reported that US "businesses could save nearly $1 trillion in health benefits over the next decade by helping employees through the use of wellness and disease prevention programs, according to a study released" on Wednesday by Healthways, a company that "coordinates wellness programs with employers." The study examined the "experience of 4.2 million privately insured people up to the age of 64 and found $945 billion could be saved nationwide by cutting the onset of chronic diseases by 25 percent."
